We've been getting teases throughout the past few weeks hinting toward this year's installment in the Call of Duty franchise, and today we finally get the full reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's campaign. A new trailer dropped today, which can be viewed below showcases the campaign, which takes place after the events of the Original Black Ops back in 2010.
The campaign trailer also features returning characters Woods, Hudson, and Mason from the original game, as well as new characters. The Campaign was developed primarily by Raven Software, however Treyarch refers to the campaign as "worthy of the Black Ops name". This year's Call of Duty will be a breath of fresh air as the game will feature a bunch of new features.
Customizable Characters!
The player will also be given the ability to create their own playable character through the campaign, allowing Male, Female, and Classified gender options, which gives players a non-binary choice. Along with gender options, players will be able to give their character a name, identity, and back story. Players can chose where their character is from, and be able to customize their CIA dossier and chose what information gets redacted. While these character customization options are purely cosmetic, Raven Software has stated that these changes will affect how the player character reacts or expresses their voice lines throughout the game. Though these customizable changes has no affect on the moment to moment gameplay, they will allow players to feel more immersed into the game's world.
Player's Choice
Unlike previous installments to the Call of Duty Franchise, Raven Software has stated that this year's Call of Duty will be the most choice based title in the series. Not only can players customize their character, they can also chose how they tackle various missions in the game. Standard Call of Duty campaign missions typically lead the player shooting through specific locations doing specific quest in a linear fashion. Black Ops Cold War will give the players more choice in how they tackle the mission, allowing for stealth options, guns blazing, and more, to even allowing players to choose what mission objectives they want to preform or not. There will even be side quest sprinkled throughout the campaign that will change the outcome of certain missions. All of the choices the player makes will affect how the game ends, as this Call of Duty will feature multiple endings. While it is not the first time a Call of Duty game has had multiple endings, as other Black Ops games specifically feature this as well, Cold War's endings will be determined by how the player plays throughout the campaign and the choices they made along the way.
