Iconoclast is coming to Xbox January 23rd

Iconoclast is a 2D action platformer developed by Swedish Developer Joakim “Konjak” Sandberg. The game was originally revealed in 2011, going through an eight year development cycle before releasing on January 23rd 2018. A year after it’s initial release on PC, PS4, and PS Vita, the game is celebrating it's second anniversary by releasing on Xbox One! Announced via Konjak's twitter, the game is finally coming to the platform after some development hiccups.

Iconoclast is an Action Platformer inspired by metroidvania like games, with puzzle, exploration, and combat elements sprinkled into the level design. While the plot is delivered through the completion of levels, the game is known best by it's signature boss battles. Having a heavy focus in those areas makes the game challenging, but with it's eight year development cycle everything is fine tuned and fair, giving players a triumphed feeling of satisfaction after defeating any of the game's bosses, similar to a Dark Souls Boss.

The game's plot is not to be overlooked however, as players take over the role of Robin, daughter of a famous mechanic who is forced to take up her father's work after his death. The world is ruled by a sinister religion known as "The One Concern" with it's leader who goes by the title of, "Mother". Opposing factions start to take arms, and the planet's resources are starting to dwindle, Robin embarks on a quest to find out what exactly the truth is.

The game is seen as an indie darling in the likes of Stardew Valley, Celeste, and so many more. Iconoclast is a breath of fresh air and a welcomed surprise drop for the month of January for the xbox platform.
