The week has been a huge week for Xbox news, particularly for the next console generation. The week started with the leak of the Xbox Series S console, leading to Microsoft to officially announce the console at 1AM Pacific Time. We knew the Xbox Series S will launch on November 10th and will retail for $299/£250, however we only had rumors about the Xbox Series X price point.
This morning, Microsoft ended the rumors by officially announcing the price. Along with their announcement that EA Play will be coming to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft announced this morning that the Xbox Series X will launch on November 10th and will retail for $499/£450.
The news does not end there however, as Microsoft also revealed that Xbox Game Pass for PC will be leaving it's BETA program and will be officially released on PC starting September 17th. PC users for either Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now be able to fully utilize the platform to experience over 100+ games in the Game Pass Library, with more to come through the generation, along with the 60+ titles available through EA Play.
Microsoft also detailed it's Xbox All Access program, a program set up to allow consumers to dive into the Xbox Ecosystem on a 24 month plan. The Xbox Series S console will start at $24.99 for 24 months while the Xbox Series X will start at $34.99 for 24 months. Xbox Access also provides it's users with Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and XCloud. The average consumer might feel that the price through Xbox All Access might be too high, however when broken down for what is included, it is revealed to be cheaper than buying the console and services à la carte.
Xbox All Access will also be expanding to more countries and territories in 2021, allowing even more users from around the world a chance to enter the Xbox Ecosystem at a cheaper price point.
Lastly, Microsoft also announced that Pre-Orders for both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will take place starting on September 22nd. Retailers across the internet have already set up various pre-order pages in preparation for upcoming launch, but due to ongoing struggles with COVID-19, we can expect to see a shortage of consoles this holiday season. Consumers looking to Pre-Order either the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S consoles should be prepared to do so on September 22nd.
