Hogwarts Legacy delayed to 2022

This morning Portkey Games announced that their upcoming title, Hogwarts Legacy, will be delayed out of their originally schedule 2021 plans and into 2022. The announcement can be seen below, and while there is no particular reason given for the delay, it is highly speculated that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is playing a factor in the game's development.

Portkey Games has been relatively quiet about the game; it was not until three months ago that we got a first look at the game via a PS5 games showcase. This trailer, which can be seen below, has already reached 18 million views on YouTube, indicating just how anticipated the title really is. While the title has seen controversy in the wake of Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling's views on transrights, it still manages to have a dedicated audience excited to play the game.

Not much is known on the actual story of the game, but we do know the game will take place in the 1800s, a much younger Hogwarts than we've seen in any past movie or book previously in the Harry Potter franchise. Additionally we know the game will be a third person action RPG where players will be able to create their own wizard/witch. The extent of character customization is unknown, but everything revealed so far has left Harry Potter fans wanting more.

With the delayed out of 2021, it is unknown when the next time Portkey Games will announce any more details on the game, or when we could even expect another trailer or gameplay feature. For more on the game and it's development, be sure to check back to My Xbox And Me.
